Giovanny Martinez I know I'm way late on this post but I just wanted to let you know about the Hazlewood Act, if you didn't already know. If you served in the Military and joined in Texas, or had Texas as your home of record when you joined then you will be eligible for the Hazlewood act- which basically is 4 more years of free tuition to any public school in Texas on top of the 36 months that you will already get from your post 9/11 bill.
You can look into the specifics but just wanted to let you know you get a lot of perks for serving and being from texas

Bret Blackburn congrats on your purchase. I am actually planning on purchasing a property around June/July of next year somewhere around Fort Worth. Is it really that brutal there? Are there any nearby towns you would suggest? I am going to be using it as a primary residence, and would prefer multi family if I can get it. Thanks

In the not too distant future I will be going back to college and my fiancé will begin her job teaching. By that time we will be married and she will have a job and I won't. Is it possible for me/her/us to use my VA loan if we co-sign it together.
I'm not familiar with how any of that works but I know without income I couldn't get it myself, so is there any way we can tag team it? Thanks

Bruce Lynn okay gotcha. Why do you say selling land is harder? Just because there are fewer buyers or what?

If anyone has gotten land from a tax sale can you tell me what you had to figure out before bidding on it. In my mind getting Land vs a House could be a much more safe investment. I say that because 1000 things could be wrong with the house that you cant see when driving by, but if you can find out the approximate value of the land than that's really all there is to it. What you see is what you get.
Does this seem to make sense or is there a lot that I am not considering?

John Underwood okay I understand what you are saying. I'm guessing your situation worked out well because the property was owned free and clear. How would you approach a situation where there was a mortgage being held on the property? How did you even know that the woman owned it free and clear?

John Underwood are you saying that you got her property right before it went to the auction- or are you saying that it already went to auction and you got it right before the year redemption time was running out?
If it already went to auction and you were just paying her taxes so that you could buy the property, then how did you find her? Is there a list somewhere that shows properties that have already been to auction for delinquent taxes?

Anastasia Jordan both really. Some homes have the owner living in them some don't. For some properties it's just a lot of land really. Would it matter?

John Underwood have you ever tried to reach out to an owner before their property went to auction to try to get a better deal before others had a chance?
