When you're also talking about a very far move, you want to go to a place that has things, places to go, places to shop ETC. So when people are moving from New York, or California, or Vermont, unless you've been here all you know is that Denver's the biggest city around. so you go to Denver or right outside of it. Now being here I definitely like the idea of moving to Colorado Springs to try real estate investing. It's way more affordable, and if Denver's blowing up like this then I'd assume that Colorado Springs would also blow up within the next 10 years.

Well for me, I needed a job as soon as possible. The whole covid-19 situational wiped out most of the jobs that I had lined up in New York. Because Denver's having such an increase in population, construction companies, apartment companies and other companies recognize this are building apartments, condos, and houses nonstop. That also means there's a lot of infrastructure jobs; I graduated with an engineering degree, there's a lot of engineering here because of everything that's being built. That's why I came out here. Besides that the mountains, the legal marijuana, in the food are all reasons why I've heard people move out here.

As someone who has moved here from New York, I can say that there's a multitude of reasons that I moved here. I graduated from University and wanted to start fresh. The state taxes from New York deterred me from staying there. The 7 months of winter, where the snow doesn't melt overnight. The state laws regarding everything are really tight in New York.But probably the biggest reason was because I wanted to move out west, it was between Boise and Denver. Denver had more jobs available so I went with Denver.

I've also been playing that license plate game myself. I've never seen so much diversity in an area. I think the housing market reflects that, which sucks for first-time buyers that want to do house hacking or BRRR, but as they say on the bigger pockets podcast it's just bigger numbers.

@Jeff White ,

Going off of what you and Steve had said about the western side of Denver: I love this side compared to the other side ( Western Side). I moved out here following a job where in my day-to-day activities I drive from place to place. All these places have been different so I've been able to get a good view of the city and a short time. Commerce City and rhino seem like bad investments because of like you said the soil and the fact that it only smells like dog food because of the Purina plant. When you're over there you can tell that they rushed it, and that's not the best neighborhood. I don't know all the little names that you guys are mentioning but I do know Lakewood,Arvada, Broomfield, etc.. I will definitely try and learn those now so thank you for introducing those to me.

As much as I love househacking, even having been part of house hacking, I don't think my girlfriend / fiance would be on board. But that's part of the game right if it means getting your feet off the ground, then it's not too bad of a situation.

Thank you for your advice, everyone.

@Bill S.

Thank you Bill. The entirety of the process is daunting but hearing people like yourself break it down help make it more palatable.

Hey guys,

I just moved to Denver, Colorado from Buffalo, New York and I'm looking to start investing in real estate. Obviously the market's crazy here. Since my last post I have gone to a few different lenders to see what kind of loan I can get for an investment like this. The next step is obviously pulling the trigger on purchasing a house. is there any areas in particular around here I should look in? is there anything about any of the areas that I should know about? And if anybody has any advice whatsoever I am completely open to hearing it. I'm as green as it gets and anything would help!

Thanks

Good morning,

I just moved from New York to Denver. I am looking to start investing BRRRR in this area. I have no prior education in this subject. I have been doing my own research for two years now. I have read the most popular books on subjects like this but am always open to new suggestions. I found this app and podcast through a friend and was shocked at how many other individuals think bout pursuing this.

I do not know much about the market here but am taking steps to try and do so. Is anyone in the same boat, or been there before? HMU
