@Jeremy VanDelinder Thanks for your response. I'm in Fort Lauderdale. I'm looking to wholesale the property. The property is uninsured so unfortunately there isn't an estimate from the insurance company. The seller lives in part of the home and blocked off the other part that's has damage.

I'm struggling to find a local contractor to assess the damage. I suppose because I just need an assessment and I don't need them to do the work they aren't interested in working with me. I've even offered to pay for the assessment. Maybe I should reach out to Angie's List or Home Advisor.

I'm very new to real estate investing and I have $5k to start my business. I've decided to go the route of wholesaling because I don't know what other strategy I can use to get the most out of my money. I'd like to hear other perspectives on how I can get the most out of this 5k for in my REI business. What strategy would you use and if you would wholesale what would you use that money on to grow your business?

I just got into real estate investing 2 mos ago. I'm meeting my 1st seller this week but I don't know how to determine the repair estimate. There is fire damage & the seller doesn't know what the cost is either. He said that he doesn't have insurance on the property so no property adjusters have been out there.
