Great, thanks!

I borrowed from my 401k around 10k for a downpayment on a 440k primary purchase back in 2012.

My neighbor with the same sq ft/layout just sold his for $1.3M a week ago, 3 days on market.

I don’t get that kind of return from my 401k.

Hi @Mo Karim,

I came across your post while I was searching for TSAHC. I would really appreciate if you could connect me to a lender that works with this program. Thank you!

Andrea

That's really good to know.  Thsnk you for pointing that out!

Thank you, this is very helpful!

Hi all,

I want to purchase a duplex to start my travel hacking journey.  What are everybody's thoughts on using a 401k loan or withdrawal to fund the downpayment? This would be my first home and primary residence.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your responses.  Unfortunately, the numbers are not ideal, i wouldn't have any cash flow.  However, I currently pay over 2000 of rent and I feel it's not getting me anywhere.  The problem is that due to life circumstances I have to stay in a certain area where there's not a lot of duplexes and the numbers are as good as in other areas.  I just feel I don't have a lot of options so I'm really conflicted on what to do.  I would appreciate any advice.  Thank you!

Hi everybody,

I currently rent and want to start my real estate journey with a duplex. I'm a little concerned with the current high interest rates and property taxes (Texas). How do you minimize these factors? I'm a first home buyer, hoping to get lower than 6.5% with a 3.5 downpayment (FHA). Is that realistic? Also, how do you analyze future taxes, this is a new property so there's no info on last year taxes. I have an estimate but worry that they will significantly increase. Thank you!
