401K loan or withdrawal to fund first property?

Posted

Hi all,

I want to purchase a duplex to start my travel hacking journey.  What are everybody's thoughts on using a 401k loan or withdrawal to fund the downpayment? This would be my first home and primary residence.

Thank you!

@Andrea Prada Serrano

I borrowed from my 401k around 10k for a downpayment on a 440k primary purchase back in 2012.

My neighbor with the same sq ft/layout just sold his for $1.3M a week ago, 3 days on market.

I don’t get that kind of return from my 401k.
