I was watching the Webinar tonight, and just about 10 minutes in, mine crashed, just stopped. I reloaded it and tried again but it crashed in same place. Is there a way to view it entire? Thanks.

Good luck! I'm new to Bigger Pockets, too, and I travel to Oxford for the annual William Faulkner conference, and love Oxford! I live in a college town, too, and since I'm a college professor, I've had success renting my duplex to college students in my classes whom I've come to know personally and can trust them to be reliable, clean, and quiet. Plus the property is close to campus and I can check on it anytime easily during my work day.

Our duplex (and only current property) has been successful from day one. For the past 5 years, we've gone only one month without both sides being fully rented on 12-month leases. When my wife and I took the plunge into real estate investing, we agreed on a couple of principles: (1) we would buy only a property that was nice enough that we wouldn't mind moving our children into it ourselves and (2) we would be able to pay the mortgage ourselves every month without stress if either of the two units failed to rent for many months. Those principles have saved us. My intention all along was to rent to college students in my own classes whom I knew personally and could be assured of their reliability and integrity. This has worked very well and we've always had a "wait list" of college students in my classes who are eager to rent our duplex every year.

Hi, I'm Andrew Lee, a college English professor and a small real estate investor for five years now. My wife and I bought a duplex in 2011 and have enjoyed (mostly) the experience of being landlords. We're hoping to add more properties to our portfolio in the coming years. On a more personal note, I'm an alumnus of Lee University, Wake Forest University, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
