Hi Sean,

Welcome to Bigger Pockets! I think you have a great strategy in place. There are strong indications that the real estate market in Detroit is poised for a comeback, making this an excellent time to buy. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in finding knowledgeable and experienced agent representation for the Detroit market.

Tax auctions typically occur once or twice a year. The Wayne Country Treasurer website contains the information for tax auctions in your area. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you!

Hi Charles, Welcome to BP! There are a lot of great ways to get started in real estate, even at a younger age. Personally, I would consider tax auctions as they provide the potential for large returns and don't necessarily require large amounts of capital. Andrew

Hi David, I applaud you on taking the initiative to start building your team early. This will allow you to jump on a great deal right away. Working to get prequalified for a mortgage or find other sources of financing is a great start. I work as a real estate referral agent out of the Grand Rapids Michigan area and would be glad to connect you with excellent professional representation. Having an agent that understands and represents your needs can be a night and day difference. I wish you the best of luck as you move towards your first deal and please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. Andrew Schmidt

Hi Robert, Congratulations on taking the initiative to start your first deal. It is the hardest step to take. I'm a real estate referral agent operating out of the Grand Rapids area. We are experiencing an extremely competitive market and there are projections of continued growth in this area. I have found that the best deals are the ones that never make it to the MlS. Methods for finding deals vary from driving for dollars, making offers to landlords, and bidding on tax liens. I wish you the best of luck as you move forward on your deals and please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. Andrew Schmidt

Hi Daniel,

I am 21 and a new agent in the field as well so I definitely understand your struggle. Knowledge and experience won't set you apart at this stage in the game; however, presenting yourself in a very professional manner can really set you apart from many, more experienced agents in the field. Small elements like always answering your phone and being on time for appointments can make a big difference. High quality photos are a great start, but also invest some time in creating a well-developed marketing plan. Many agents try to attract a broad audience, and that makes sense when trying to nail down the first couple of deals. After that, I would work to specialize in a specific industry and work to market yourself as the expert in that area. I wish you great success with your career!
