I would echo Neil approach. While I have not worked with KW or the other big RE brokers, they have a lot to offer as far as training and brand. I had a full time job and choose to learn on my own. Probably could have benefited from the training. But I think you will find good and bad in all the different types of brokerage. You just need to find one that works for you.

My goal this year is to get my broker's license, if thing work out in November. Good luck of your adventures.

So far it has to be trying to save money with someone who says they can do the work. I was thinking I was benefiting both of us. He needed to work and I needed the help. Instead of bid the work out to others, I let him do the work. Usually took longer and cost more. But he was was always down on his luck and I was trying to help. We actually had to do some major rework after I got rid of him and his crew.

Second thing was not listening to my wife. She kept tell me to tear down half the house because it was in bad shape. But I was dragging my feet hoping I was going to be able to savage it. In the end, I tore it all down and lost 2 month on the work.

Hello, my name is Anthoney Hanks. I recently started listening to the podcast and excited to learn new ideas. I am a licensed realtor coming up on 4 years in November. One goal this year is to get my broker's licenses. But real estate is my after hours work. By day, I am a developer with about 18 years experience.

I got into real estate because I could not bring myself to pay 6% to a realtor when my house was going to sell itself. So I bought an online course from Groupon. Six month later I passed my RE exam.

I have been wanting to buy a flip and eventually rental properties. For two years I flounder around looking for something, but always had a reason not to do it. Finally, I made the plunge. I jump in on a house that needed a lot of work. My wife, her sister and I have done a lot of the work. I wanted this to be a learning experience and it has. I lost half the square footage and had to rethink my market. I was trying to help someone by letting them work for me and it turn out bad. Did not do a good job of budgeting to cost of renovation. It has taken way longer than I wanted. But funny thing is, I am ready for my next opportunity. Using what I learned to do better.
