Then they need an attorney. If you don't have the legal right to rent, the occupants cannot have an open check to occupy your property as a squatter. For the government to sanction that would be a violation of the due process clause of the Constitution.

Hello all! I’m working with a homeowner right now who is looking to sell but the tenants are giving them a hard time. They have no rental license and have been on a verbal agreement for rent. Now the homeowner is stuck because they’ve tried to evict them and they also agreed to leave June 15. So far they have not left, nor paid rent in 3 months. Does anyone have advice on how they can handle this? Homeowner is desperate to sell but I’ve never come across this situation where there’s no lease in place. Just looking to see what their options are.
