I'm moving soon to Richmond VA which is definitely a smaller market than here outside NYC. I've been spending a good amount of time on some of the sites (Zillow & Trulia) and the multifamily availability is definitely smaller than what I'm used to. For those of you who dabble mainly in duplex & triplex properties, how far are you willing to travel to view and possibly buy properties?

Thank you all!

@Frank Patalano

Hi Frank!

As someone who is looking to buy their first property, I would say not knowing whether or not the deal

I’m looking at is truly a ‘deal’ or not! Knowing the market is my biggest weakness. I also live in the city without a car, and it is hard to visit properties due to this fact.

@Mike Roy There are some moving parts that are complicated in communicating with him haha. I've picked his brain a fair amount! He's also wants me to be self-dependent.

But either way, thanks for the heads up! Good stuff to know

Congratulations!! I've been looking into a duplex myself. What would you say is a decent going rate for inspectors/contractors for that area?

Hello all!

My name is Armando, and I've recently been bitten by the Real Estate bug after watching my father create millions of dollars in wealth through hard work and perseverance. I've been trying to gather as much knowledge about Real Estate buying as possible, and for those of you who are seasoned rental property buyers, what are some things you wish you'd known when looking for your first property? Any and all tips are widely appreciated. i have a high credit score and no student loans/little to no credit card debt. Thanks for taking the time! Happy Investing!
