Thank you @Daniel Raposo for the meetups information.  It would be great to get the chance to sit down and speak with some investors in the Fairfield County area. Do not worry, 7 am is not too early for me, especially if it means getting to speak with likeminded investors. Once I graduate and have returned to Fairfield County, I would love to take you up on the offer to come to one of your group meetings on Thursdays. As for the other two meetings you mentioned, I will be sure to follow up on those as well once I have returned.

Thanks again for the information,

Bennett

Thank you @Paul Timmins for the advice. I will definitely locate and attend some local REIA club meetings and I am in the process of reading J. Scott's The Book on Estimating Rehab Costs.

I will look into HUD homes, as I am considering owner occupying, but I am very interested in the niche or specialized housing for my first investment due to the high concentration of colleges around where I live.

In terms of the REIA meetings, how do you recommend I get the most out of the meetings? And if you have any other advice in the student housing niche for investing, please let me know and thanks again!

Also looking to connect and chat with local investors in the southern CT region!

Hello everyone! I have been reading Biggerpockets and numerous books recommended throughout the site for roughly a month now and I am completely hooked on real estate investing. I am currently a college student graduating in the summer and starting a full time job in Fairfield County, CT come the fall. I don't plan on investing until I have made enough income from my job for a downpayment, but at first I plan on using real estate to supplement my income. I plan on investing within CT and this summer I am looking to build my network of contacts to include a real estate agent, property manager, contractor, etc. If you were in my position what would you do?
