Post: Should I get a Credit Card?

I have never had a credit card, loan, or anything that would build credit [or lose credit(?)]. I do not completely understand all of the information about how that works so I'm curious; if I have never had any debt, what is my credit score? Also, should I get a credit card now and start building credit or is it not absolutely mandatory?

Thanks very much Steve, I appreciate the encouragement and the advice! I am currently looking into a job where I will be working under a veteran investor, flipping houses. I hope to get it as I would be simultaneously learning hands on about flipping and possibly get him as a mentor.

I'm very new to the REI world and I'm very interested and driven to learn as much about it as I can. I just graduated from high school about 2 weeks ago. My plans were to go to college with a major in biology, eventually making it to medical school; life, unfortunately(?) had different plans. I was given a little book called "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and my world was turned upside down. "The sky looks so small from the bottom of the well", these words so accurately described my thinking before that book. As I do not have a job yet, I have devoured all the information I could get. Since then I have read many books, articles, videos etc. and am very, very keen to procure more information about the subject. My biggest problem right now it seems is, of course, my lack of money and finer details as to the mechanics of laws and taxes involved. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
