@Adriel Hsu Wow!! congrats man. I like how you didn't give up even when things got very bad. My wife and I just closed on our first deal and are already having communication problems with our contractor. We will learn from our story and find a new contractor as he still hasn't started the work yet even though he was supposed to start last week.

@Amy A. Congrats!! I can't imagine your joy when you finally reached that goal. Just reading your post has inspired me to be patient and grind it out as my first acquisition is taking months to close.

Welcome Justin, I'm a beginner myself and just as the others have mentioned, this place is the best place to start. I've been studying since I joined the site and I believe it's time for me to take action. Don't forget to pace yourself because there is a lot of information here that might get you overwhelmed. I know I was in the first week of signing up. So take your time and have fun learning about real estate.

@Dorian Dubreus At your age, I can imagine how it will be hard to find a mentor but don't let that discourage you. Use this time to read the books and learn as much about real estate as you can. Locate some real estate agent and work for them for free if they'll allow it. Attend real estate events. I'm sure you can find some local ones in the area. I like the way you are thinking at this age. Keep it up.

@Dorian Dubreus Wow just 16!! Keep up the good work. I just started getting into this business and feel like I should have started long ago. And yes these success stories are what motivates me to keep learning more about real estate everyday. I've made it a point to visit this page and read one or two stories whenever my hype about real estate seem to be going down.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their story so far and I can't wait to add mine to the list soon.

Welcome Daniel. I joined BP not long ago myself and still in learning mode and analyzing properties. I'm from Norristown and don't have any properties yet but have found the rental calculator to be invaluable. Check it out.

I'm glad I came across this post because I have a similar goal, 65 rentals in 10 years. I've already started getting my personal finances in order (Spending less and saving). Read two of the books mentioned above already. All the responses confirms that I'm heading in right direction. I do admit that there's a lot to learn and itching to get out there and make my first purchase too but hadn't considered Joe's last point.

Welcome, I'm a newbie to real estate as well but what I've realized is that there's so much to learn. So take your time and pace yourself so you don't get overwhelmed.
