‘Grats to your client, and will do! We went to Oahu for our honeymoon last year and absolutely loved it.

Be sure to hook into the BP Acadiana group on Meetup.com.  It is run really well and growing because of new blood like you.  Your network is your net worth and nothing is further from the truth.

Yep, done! Excited to meet new and experienced blood alike. XD

Welcome, Brady Higginbotham! I am currently in LA but I went to school at LSU. I have been looking into investing in Baton Rouge and surrounding cities. Great start. Maybe, we could help each other out down the road. Cheers!

LSU, nice! Tigers fan? I’m slowly learning Lafayette’s market, but don’t know too much about Baton Rouge. Best of luck with your investments, and we can definitely sync up down the road. Cheers to you as well!

Welcome to BP @Brady Higginbotham!  Thanks for the intro.  Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks, Rob! I’ve got My eyes peeled for the next meetup.

@Brady Higginbotham Welcome to BP!

Sounds like you're off to a roaring start, and it's great you're joining a local group; it definitely is helpful to meet the major players and pick their brains.

My wife is from Tennessee and misses Cajun food since we moved here to Los Angeles, so you've definitely got it made from that angle!

Analysis paralysis can be eased tremendously with knowledge -- you're well on your way to that "first one"...

Happy investing and reach out if I can help with anything.

Thanks, Kuba! Yeah, the food is pretty amazing, but I’m sure you guys have some great selections yourself over in LA! I’m a ways away, but getting closer every day (ugh, so cheesy XD). If I’m ever in LA, you’ll have to let me know what to check out!

Brady Higginbotham I hear you. I was an engineer for 8 years and people thought I was the new guy. That’s why I know I’ll never make it to year 15.

Let me know how I can help.

Man, you’re not kidding. It’s just a line of work that can really take its toll! Not going to lie, jealous of your Hawaii living. We’ve been to the north shore of Oahu and absolutely loved it. Hope you guys are okay with everything going on right now!

Thanks @James Dickens! I'm excited to attend the the meetup group, and I'll definitely have to check out that REIA! It's a shame Lafayette doesn't have its own. I wouldn't think Lafayette is *that* small a market.

Hey, fellow Louisianians! Hope you all had a chance to check out Festival this weekend! I just posted my "new member" thread here if you'd like to know a little bit of my background, and I wanted to come in and introduce myself to the local Lafayette and larger Louisiana communities. I'd love to get involved with any meetup groups and REIAs around the area, though I'm not finding too much.

I did find the BP Acadiana meetup group led by Robert, so I'm excited to check that out. If there are any other organizations or clubs you guys would recommend or, better yet, suggestions on gaining some hands on experience, let me know!

I'm definitely looking at SFHs and multi-families to start out, with hopes of going into commercial some time in the future. From what I've read, the Lafayette market can be pretty hot 'n' heavy, so I'm sure it'll be a great challenge!

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Lafayette and Louisiana may not be the most popular or prestigious markets, but good gumbo(!) do we have some of the best culture and cooking I've ever experienced. Proud to be a part of it and ready to get going!

Hey guys! Just wanted to introduce myself as a beginning investor in Lafayette, Louisiana!

Don't let the young face fool you; I'm actually in my late 20's (no, I swear :D). I've been a software engineer for almost 10 years, and while it's certainly rewarding in its own right, it can be extremely stressful and draining mentally. As a result, it's not uncommon to become worn down and ultimately burn out. I can tell this is beginning to happen in my own career, and so I've been looking for alternate roads to gradually turn onto.

This ultimately led me to the likes of REI and BiggerPockets. I started out listening to nearly every podcast episode and was immediately hooked - not in a delusional, "make all the money tomorrow" way, but moreso by the possibility of carving my own path and working to build my own family's future, not simply someone else's.

After a lot of personal research - scouring sites, boards, and way too many articles - I finally felt like I was prepared for the next giant leap small actionable step and created a BP account this weekend. Since then, I've been tearing through the Ultimate Guide and even stumbled upon a BP meetup group locally. (Lafayette isn't a huge metro like, say, an Austin or LA, so this was pleasantly surprising!) I also purchased Dave's new book on note investing after hearing the podcast as it seems like a good way to build up some cashflow and gain experience.

I'm mainly interested in SFHs and multi-family properties at the moment, though from a knowledge standpoint I'm admittedly still a ways away from being able to take on that "first one." I'd honestly love to get into commercial RE long-term, but I see that as more an end goal once (see if) I've obtained the necessary amount of capital and experience down the line.

Anyways, sorry about the novel; thanks for reading, though! Can't wait to get to know some of you guys. Oh, and just know - Lafayette may not be LA, but we absolutely have some of the best food out there here in Cajun Country. So if you're ever passing through, come say "hi!", and whatever you do, don't skimp on the boiled crawfish or jambalaya!
