That would be really helpful, thank you!

I've invested in a couple rental properties and recently been learning about self storage and would like to get into the industry.  I'm cold calling places but would like to also find a broker who could help.  What is the best way to find a broker who specializes in self storage properties?  I'm located in the Hampton Roads area (Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Suffolk areas) of Virginia and would like to stay more local for my first deal.

Great to hear you're getting into flipping. I'm just starting in wholesaling with some direct mail. I'm buying a house in Portsmouth from my first mail campaign to be a rental. Closing next Monday!

There is a flipping houses mastermind meetup once a month organized by Drew Hitt of Situation Solutions. We just had one on Tuesday. This would be a great place to start, it's a great environment for asking questions, learning, and networking. It's not intimidating at all. PM me and I'll send you the link for it, or you might be able to search for it on the meetup website.

There's also the Tidewater Real Estate Investors Group (TRIG) which meets once a month. However, they seem to have a lot of guest speakers who are all trying to sell something... with TRIG getting a cut of any sales. I have only gone to one of their meetings and there were a lot of people there, it was a disappointing. It felt more like a weekend seminar event than an investor meet up for networking.

If you are interested in flipping. I think you'll get more actionable instruction from the mastermind meetup than at any TRIG event.

I'm looking to do my first flip and would like to have lunch and learn a little about it from any wholesalers or flippers who have done this in the area.  I'm primarily looking into Chesapeake but also Virginia beach and Norfolk.  Let me know if you have any advice or could suggest a meet up.

Thanks.

I've bought my first buy and hold property and would like to move into flipping houses.  I've done a lot of research and secured financing for a deal and would like to learn more from someone who has done flipping in the Hampton Roads area or more specifically Portsmouth, Chesapeake, or Virginia Beach area.  I'd like to learn more and do some partnership deals since I already have financing in place and get some more experience.  If you or someone you know is flipping please reply or feel free to contact me.

I recently bought a fourplex in the portsmouth virginia area and had it inspected with only minor problems.  Since I've owned it for the last month there have been many problems popping up.  The water discharge backed up but one side did not have a relief access to drain it and when putting it in discovered that there was a crack in the pipe.  There was also a pipe leaking in the crawlspace which was noted on the inspection report which was to be fixed that leaked sewage and caused a smell in the unit above it.  Another problem came up from the smell of leaking gas when the handyman came out he found that the gas water heater had been improperly vented and gas was backing up into the unit as well as pvc piping used for the hot line which he said was against code.  I'd like to know if I can go after the seller for failing to disclose these serious problems.  I was also told by one of the tenants that while we were inspecting that she was told not to talk about any of the problems with the place by the seller.  I'm sure the seller was aware of these problems and did not mention any of them during the walk through or inspection.  any advice would be appreciated if anyone is in the portsmouth norfolk virginia beach or hampton roads area.

I was supposed to have a hearing this Wednesday, but they rescheduled it until next week. Hopefully I'll have some more answers after the hearing with the property tax board.

@Brandon Shaw I have done some reading on the VA and Federal tax credits. It looks like there are a lot of hoops to jump through, but I might actually qualify for one or both of those. The applications require high quality photos, and a lot of them, so I'm going to take the good camera to the property on Monday and start that process. It's worth a shot, right?

Exactly, I'm very familiar working with the government and how bureaucracy works but I'm putting together a walk through of what it would take so I shouldn't have too much to navigate.  There are a few fees for doing everything like you said so also something I'll have to take in mind.  Did you have to use any kind of special contractors to work on your project?

Thank you for your response.  I will look into online CPA's as well.  Do you currently have a CPA  you use in your area or outside?
