I would tend to agree with them. Just make sure that you keep accurate records of what was done and how much you are expecting it to cost, so the contractor doesn't give you some inflated figure that you don't know if it's right, or if you know it is wrong you cannot prove it. Plus, it helps you save the amount to pay him, whether just mental accounting or actually moving it to a separate (interest bearing) account.

Hi,

I am a new member of Bigger Pockets from Dayton looking to get into REI. I am a long time reader of Mr Money Mustache and Bigger Pockets, and I feel I am ready to get started with real estate investing. I currently attend Wright State majoring in Accounting and Financial Services with a minor in Crime and Justice Studies, and I referee/umpire high school sports.
