@Account Closed thank you very much. I agree about the high risk factor...was just curious about if this was allowed or not in case the situation ever arises.
Who are considered disqualified persons?

Is it allowed by SDIRA rules to create a personal loan from an SDIRA to someone that doesn't involve the direct purchase of an asset? As in, could it just be a loan to a colleague or friend?
Thanks in advance

@Justin Windham and @Brian Eastman Thanks for your responses and thoughts. It does seem like the SD IRA has some very restrictive rules about loaning to yourself.
What if my SD IRA makes a loan to my wife's LLC which buys the property? Is this still too risky that it's breaking the rules? It just seems like I'd like to use the funds in the IRA to help buy properties that I own/manage.
It just seems like its really challenging to do this for your own properties unless you're buying the property as an investment in the IRA.

Is it possible to have my self-directed IRA loan me (or my LLC) a down payment (say 20%) on a BRRRR deal where I can use hard money to finance the rest of the purchase and the rehab? Would a situation like this meet the SDIRA rules?
If not for a SDIRA, could it work for a SD401k?

@Chad Pore...The advice already given seems quite sound. I would certainly think the siding replacement would be easiest to do with a tenant in the house. I would also think the current siding won't negatively affect the appraised value that much, unless it's really bad.
Best of luck on finishing your BRRRR.

Thank you so much for your very detailed response. This information is very helpful to get an idea of what makes sense. I'll reach out to a CPA for more detailed information on my particular situation, but this is very helpful.
