Thanks to everyone who contributed. This issue arose when a guy contacted me asking if he could legally do this. After looking at the Alabama statute regarding adverse possession, I advised him not to proceed with this. However, I stumbled upon bigger pockets and wondered if anyone out there had experience with a similar fact pattern.

Anastasia Jordan You would be correct! The property must be possessed for 20 years and taxes paid for ten years.

Wayne Brooks Thanks for the reply. I know he hasn't come close to meeting the Alabama time requirement for AP. I found it interesting, because I had never heard of anyone doing this.

A Gentlemen is attempting to acquire property in Alabama through adverse possession. In the meantime, he is renting the property. Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation? He has been in possession of the property for three years. Any info will help. Thanks!
