@Moses Handler wish I had some info that could help but I ended up selling the property as is with the roof. We didn’t have any roof damage though and it was holding up really really good considering how old it was. We did get some estimates and because of the special way they have to remove it and dispose of the materials it was costly. I will say a part of the roof over the porch had been replaced at some point and the rest was asbestos shingles. Best of luck to you.

I would agree. I know someone who recruits/hires traveling nurses and its a booming industry right now. They have a huge need in Iowa/Nebraska.

I know this is an old post but I'm currently purchasing a house with asbestos roof that is 100 years old. I'm in the process of getting quotes from roofers. Any advice?

@Matt Devincenzo
Thank you for the advice. I’ve been very fortunate to have never had any issue like this previously. I will consider adding a paragraph into my lease. Thanks.

I am having a similar issue with a property. We recently had a leak in the kitchen under the sink. Called the plumber the next day and after inspecting the leak soon realized it was a much bigger problem. The old cast iron pipe had split in half and was leaking into the wall behind the kitchen. We opened up the wall replaced the pipes and fixed that leak issue but discovered water damage and mold. Wall and floor are currently open and being inspected. We filed a claim with the insurance company, they are still working on that. In the meantime we offered the tenants a hotel, which at first they refused while the plumbers were there fixing the leak for a week. Now this is week 2 and we need to deal with the mold. We offered a hotel and this time they took it for a week for now until we know if the insurance is going to cover the mold remediation or if we need to do it on our own. I feel horrible, they are good tenants, and I'm trying to get this done ASAP. Here is my question, should I offer a reduction in rent for the inconvenience this has caused?

I was wondering the same thing. Would like to report rent payments and late payments to the Credit Bureaus.
Thank you @Joel Garfinkel for the info.
