^^Hey John, thanks for the info.  Yes we did stay at Mariners Cay.  I thought I had seen a business certificate in the owners packet when we stayed there. Also, there are more listings on AirBnB now.  I haven't called them to check if they are allowed or not.  We have just been brainstorming different ideas.  The idea of LTR down in the Charleston might seem to be a better potential fit.

Thanks for the info everyone! Yeah the IOP seem to be wayyyy out of the price range, and have zero on the market. We like some of the spots around Folly and we stayed in an AirBnB in a condo complex right over the bridge. Right now that seems to possibly be a good spot to grab a STR property.


Have any of you had success with LTR in the Charleston area with the influx of new jobs/people moving to the area? Also I saw William mentioned Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach.  Any success in those markets? I haven't dove into either of those markets yet.

Hi all! Someone recently recommended an online course on strprofitacademy.com. I am new to the STR-scene and am trying to get as much info and points of view as I can. I was wondering if any of you have used/heard of this course and if it is worth the $$$, or if there are any other webinar/courses you would recommend. I wasn't sure if the info you get here at BP is just as good. Between the podcasts and forum there is tons of info. Thanks for the info.

Hi everybody, new to the BP forum and excited to utilize this awesome and vast wealth of knowledge.  My wife and I live in Eastern Massachusetts.  Real estate has been getting quite pricey up here, so we were looking into other markets.  This past spring, we took a trip down to Charleston, SC, more specifically Folly Beach, and loved it down there.  We love the idea of getting a short-term rental in the area, and was wondering if anyone had any feedback, either positive or negative.  Neighborhoods to look into, contractors, cleaning service, ect.  We are hoping to be able to utilize the 10% down vacation home strategy.  We are figuring we can get much more "bang for our buck" doing vacation rentals at 10% down as opposed to 20-30% down in our expensive home market.  Thanks for the info! I can't wait to someday be able to return the favor!!
