Do it! I bought a house after graduating from USC and I still own it as a rental.  I wish I had bought it or another one while I was in school.  Listen to Will Gaston, the USC student rental guru!

Secondary markets in the Southeast.  I am happy to help you in SC and GA.  

I will echo some of the sentiments here about the SE, but I would stick to some of the secondary and tertiary markets.  Columbia, SC (I am biased), Augusta, GA, Chattanooga TN, Huntsville, AL, etc.  While these markets are competitive, they are not saturated like a Charleston, Atlanta, or Charlotte.

This is a great looking duplex in a fantastic location for anyone looking for an A+ asset.  

@Jay Jules We are currently looking for scatter site single family portfolios in SC and GA.  Columbia, Greenville/Spartanburg, Augusta Ga would be the primary focus.  Needs to probably be 20 houses or more (the bigger the better) and the portfolio can have a pretty wide buy box but we really like c class value add.
