So i have recently moved from Anaheim, CA to Colorado Springs, CO.  I am selling home there after initial repairs on July 8th.  I am confidence it will be under contract by mid-late July.  My goal is to begin my real estate journey buy acquiring a multi-unit i can occupy and rent out to cover to the mortgage and hopefully create small cash flow.  From there the goal is to work on building a solid portfolio with my remaining money from the house sale.  I have already found a real estate agents, a real estate attorney, and several possible lenders.  I would like to know how others have set out about accomplishing this in my area and what tips they may have.  Thank you in advance.

Welcome to BP. There is a location where like minded investors gather in Lake Forest, California every month that you should check out. You will need to PM me for the details, since Biggerpockets will not let me post that information here.

If you would like to chat before then and talk about investing let me know. I am in Mission Viejo and can get together at my local Starbucks. Your ALL in cost is only a cup of coffee.

I am currently flipping homes in Orange County and teach others how to do so as well. I started a wholesaling group and spend my Saturday mornings with them.

I am looking for my next purchase at the court house steps, while I am working on a few more.

 Joe,

thank you for your reply. I would like to take you up on your offer to go to this meeting and join you for a cup of coffee after perhaps. Thank you for taking an interest in me. I am a very hard worker and with some experience I know i can contribute my fair share to repay the kindness.

So I am where so many other people have been and are today. I have struggled most of my working life to make ends meet until one day I had enough! I decided to try to go into business for myself and break the 9 to 5. However every situation is unique so let me explain mine. I am a 32yr old owner of his single condo property in Anaheim, CA. For about 3 years I have diligently made payments and paid taxes with the property gaining over 100k+ in equity.

I want to leverage my money to make another acquisition for building a rental portfolio, but i don't know how to approached financing (non-traditional) and acquiring the right property to start my journey.  I have recently rearranged my life to work as a server (tip-income) and create more time to commit to my goals I simply need to find the right pathway. What are your thoughts?
