thank you for the responses; they are very informative.
@Ann Bellamy I forgot to mention that my parents are most likely going to be helping with a bigger down payment. I realize that the closer you get to Boston the more expensive but I have some friends that have been getting into the game up there with FHA. However, I do see the advantage of investing in Fall River. I will check out the South Shore REIA.
Do you think that this run up in prices reflects what happened in 08? Did MA get hit hard after the crash? I was too young to see the repercussions.
@Lior Rozhansky Forgot to mention that My parents are most likely going to be helping me out with the down payment. I do see the advantage in investing in my hometown but I'd like to get out there ad learn other markets as well. How do you suggest I go out and learn different economic landscapes? Here I can literally walk around the city and see the different neighborhoods and then go home and find out rents/ prices/taxes. I cant really do that with places an hour away; not efficiently anyways.

hello everyone,
I am about a year away from graduating school down in southern MA and am currently saving every dollar that I can to start my investing journey with a bang!
My parents and I are investing in the Fall River area with success but I am looking to move somewhere closer to Boston after I graduate for a number of reasons. Some of them being: commute times, wanting to get out home town and wanting to live somewhere nicer. Can anyone suggest a good market for buy and hold outside Boston? I will have around 20k saved up and a salary in the 70k range upon graduation if this is relevant.
Also looking to connect with investors in the area! tell me about what you have going on! I feel like investors are few and far in between in my neck of the woods.
thanks,
C
