I would think it would depend on your strategy, and location. I just looked at the San Diego area where I work and it look to be similar to airbnb or vrbo. it looks like the clientele would be different as well, and they seem to be able to bring in more cash flow. I would research the occupancy rate. Hope this helps.

We started when I took a job out of state back in 2003 and made our Single family a rental, then purchased some multi-family around 2008, then got serious in 2017.

I like the analogy of deciding to have children, its a hard decision but so worth it.
