My dad passed away, but apparently when he refinanced the mortgage, only he was on the loan. Now my mom is living there, and she is making the payments of the remaining balance on mortgage. When the bill comes it's in the estate of my dad's name. Is there a detriment to keeping it this way and not refinancing it into her name? I don't know that she would be able to qualify on her own for the loan. She also can barely make the payments as it is.

My second question would be if I was willing to make the payments for the remainder of the loan so she didn't have to pay it, what kind of legal docs would we need written up to make sure I would get the house when she passes. This would be a way for her to live there for the rest of her life and not have to worry about a mortgage.

Hey @Dan Bardar, so you have a lot of experience managing STRs?

If not, why would anyone hand over a property to someone who has never done it before?

What you are asking is to take someones properties(s) and learn the ropes with them. Personally I would never have anyone manage my place who had never done it before.

That is a huge hurdle. Plus you need to see if you need a real estate license to manage properties.

I agree you need some experience first.

See if there are STR'S close to you house that are on the lower end $150 a night or less and message these owners on the Airbnb app and see if they are interested in a Co-host to start with.

 Hi John,

This might be a stupid question but what exactly is a co host ?

I will look into the real estate license. I was thinking even if it's for free to start. If I could be helpful at all to someone's portfolio, or someone looking to bring someone on and lighten their load. I have one long term rental currently, so I have so experience. Nothing with STR's though.

Was thinking of going into STR's somewhere along the jersey shore town. Thought it might be smarter to offer services to someone to run their portfolio or at least help out first to learn the roles and business? Does this make sense? How would I get in contact with these people? Just email Air Bnb listings?
