Thanks for the responses, everyone. @Doug Spence, @Rhett Tullis, @Ryan Edwards, thanks for the suggestions. I currently live in a rural area in Norman. I'm a lifelong Oklahoman. I've been considering real estate for a while but held back due to the demands of my job.  I also wanted to reno my own house to learn what I was doing and convince myself i could manage such a project.  I met up with another investor in a similar job role and he convinced me that I shouldn't wait any longer to get involved (except to read up, educate myself, and plan). I've been making my way through a reading list he suggested which led me to these forums.

@Brendan Harrison

That sounds awesome! I'd love to hear some of your insights into the local market.

Just starting out in Oklahoma City. Looking to make connections and build a team. I have enough startup capital for 5-6 properties, but I want to take it slow getting started. Any good recommendations for a local team, specifically reliable contractors, a good realtor, and a portfolio lender? I don't intend to engage a portfolio lender immediately, but I'd like to start building that relationship for when I need/want one.
