Is all regardless, would never allow a renter to be in a property without pay. Regardless of portal, have been in and around vacation rentals my entire life in a very touristy area. That is not a failure by leaving. That is a standard of doing business.

No, incorrect, only mistake as learned with other portals is accepting not having a vacation rental site of your own that fullfills the missing link. Learned this in educational video's as well. Put tons of effort into educational sites. Then poof, lost one and had no replacement when one fails.

Example here is a friend who had a 20 day booking. 20 days in no pay vrbo, then his next booking arrived and no pay. Really, truly effected him. Thought about staying, if i had would of been solely for weeks not month bookings. Unfortanately, even today showed pay out was to be done and it is not. On expensive properties that cost 5, 6 thousand a month to maintain... simply not even realistic to do. Next thing you know your out months not a month.

Had issue once with Air bnb. Called, they said, Yes there was an error it will be paid today. That is not what occurred with VRBO nor is it what is occurring with VRBO. It is simply stated, you should be paid sometime this week then not paid. Multiple date changes and told "Technical Error" identical to better business bureau complaints on file these last few months. Blocked at time to enter and create forum login as well.

To me, that spells problem with portal. Not an opinion, an actual problem. NO host should be told They should be paid at some time unknown and have long term guest in the home. Ever,

A sign of failure is in fact, changing dates of pay, multiple times, multiple closed portals that used to be large, changing terms, failure to pay. Seen it multiple times multiple industries multiple types of portals.

Earning fine, already booking higher rate on other platforms. Just your learn, it will happen thousands and thousands with no known payout is not a gripe. Its a fact of non stable platform not fullfilling its objective. Paying host for guest in standardized way to allow safe transactions.

By the way, the worse part. Asking your guest to call homeaway/vrbo to see what is wrong. Your truly get this if you ever have back to back bookings full months through season and all of sudden no money.

Not just me many like me these last months not paid. Of course, they paid 6 months ago and 3 months ago in full. Not a new host. Very experienced host. Just will not tolerate such treatment, holding of funds etc... is no way to do business.

When you hear these stories. About host not getting paid. Might check little farther to find the truth of it. First times it ties you p for 5,6,7, 8,000.00 or more. Your feel it and understand.

No saying, This very moment, we have had guest in house since 1st day of month. Old VRBO host, they failed to pay day after guest arrived. In there process of moving to ADVANCE payments. They messed up there payment system. Is not just mee is all over the better business bureau. Two other host i know right now are not paid for February month long bookings as well they cancelled VRBO future host and are just doing Air Bnb now.

It will never be ok, to have guest staying without pay day after arrival. Never,

The risk comes in play when a platform alters technology before it is proven and interferes with host money. When they alter entirety of how host can be paid. Especially when they now start paying in advance.

The moment a platform allows guest to say days and days and days without paying host. I am done with that platform. That is what is occurring to many host during this transition.

If they do not pay by Monday will remove the guest.

Have had guest in property now for over 7 days. From VRBO fact that they have not paid for the guest stay to the host is no big deal. It is something they took non chalantly and stated, maybe your get paid this week but maybe not.

Realize they are doing technical changes which will in long run really ruin them. However, to have a guest in a home for long stay and not be paid is absolutely non excuseable and they handled it with little care. This is all over BBB and they know issue and still let it drag out.

End result cancelled all vrbo guest was multiple full months coming and just could not take the risk. With there advance pay feature coming into play now. The good host will be good host the bad will scam them and ultimately, will they have funds to pay.

That seems like a lavish statement. However, fact is fact, this is a crooked world often. Host will setup, take 6, 7 months advanced pay and at anytime they can close bank account, close vrbo and move down the road. It will happen, this is a invitation to ruin a lot of vacationers vacation and desire nothing to do with such risk.

Likely even the transition to this is what has caused current issues of not being paid so do not need to wait to see the effect. The effect is already here and such reputation will precede them.
