Post: Relocating with a VA Loan

I purchased my first home with a VA loan back in September 2015. I had all intentions of living in the home for at least a year as the VA requires but I have recently been offered a better career opportunity several states away.

I plan on moving around May 2016, 8 months occupancy total.  I've read that the VA lets active duty take out a second VA loan and rent out their current home if they are relocated due to the military.

Now I am no longer in the military, but I'm still relocating due to work. This relocation isn't required but it will be better for my career in the long run. What are my options for renting out my current home and taking out a second VA loan in my new location?

Ok, Thanks for the help guys!

How much weight does the tax assessor's valuation have when negotiating a deal?

I'm interested in a single family home in my area listed for $105,000.  I checked with the assessor's website and the property has a "2016 fair market value" of $63,900.

How much weight does the PVA's fair market value have when negotiating a deal? I'm interested in single family house in my area that's listed for $105,000. I checked the county's PVA website and it has a 2016 fair market value of $63,900.

Thanks guys for all the great information! I really appreciate the help!

Hello Bigger Pockets!! This is my first post and I am new to Real Estate investing!!  I'm looking to get started in buy and hold multi-family rentals.

I live in Kentucky and a duplex just came onto the market in my area that I'm interested in. In the remarks it states, "Property for sale with subject to tenants rights.  Tenants do not have a written lease. Currently rented for $250.00 each side."

The property obviously needs a make over and the rent is far too low for me.  If I were to purchase it I would want to go in an renovate it and raise the appreciation and the rent.

What are my rights as a landlord in this situation?
