I just acquired a new rental on the East Side (San Antonio) that sits on a double lot with the back side totally unused. I'm exploring options of building a new 3-2 on the lot as a new rental. Does anyone have experience with 1000sf (or so) new construction on this part of town? Can you recommend a solid contractor for the job?

Thanks all in advance.

Last year I bought a SFH at auction that was on a large 0.75 acre lot. The house effectively only uses a third of the lot, leaving what looks like a vacant lot adjacent to the residence. I'm renting out the renovated home and have put up a privacy fence that defines the yard, leaving a well defined adjacent lot. I looked into replatting so I could sell off the 'lot' but learned that the replatting process could cost me $10-20k. What are my options for this extra land and what would cost/benefit be for each?

It costs money to mow periodically and is a liability having a vacant lot. Looking for ways to monetize. Its in an up and coming area of San Antonio.
