@Nathan J.How is Brown Mckinney working out? I went on their website recently to try calling and the number doesn't even ring. the call just drops, no matter what phone I dial it from.

@Ryan Dossey Thanks for the feedback. Good to know. Are there any discounts that are actually noticeable that apply to rentals that you know of? For example, I read somewhere that having the electrical in a house updated could qualify for a discount but it didn't specify if that applies to rental properties as well.

Hi Everyone,

So i recently installed a security system at my two properties and when I asked about a discount I was told that they don't offer a discount for systems installed in rental properties. Have any of you had this same experience or is it time to look for a new insurance company?

Thanks everyone for the input. My contractor has already pulled them but I just randomly thought about it earlier and wondered is it at all common for people to pull their own permits.

Hi Everyone,

I'm excited to be starting my first renovation project within the next week and I started wondering about what other people do in regards to permits. Do any of you go pull the permits yourself or do you pay the contractor to pull them?

@Kelly N. seeing that you're purchasing maybe the low appraisal will work out in your favor and force the seller to lower their price a bit more as opposed to you having to come up with more money. Good luck with the review process. Hopefully it works out.

@Account Closed Yeah, I definitely don't need any uninsured contractors keeping me up at night doing that. That sounds like a fair price. Thanks for the input.

@George P.  I'm definitely not going to be the one going up there removing them lol. I was thinking the same thing though in that it shouldn't be that hard for someone to do. Just trying to get an understanding for pricing and is it something that any contractor should be able to do? It's a three story home. I like the scrap metal idea. That should offset the cost a bit. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I'm about to start a large renovation project and the house has some awning on the windows and the front porch which I would like to remove. Anyone know is this a big to-do? It's not necessary for me to do it now and if it's a budget killer I won't but in general any idea on how much this is to remove? There are 4 window awnings plus the front porch awning. Thanks in advance.

@Andrew Jordan  Yeah, luckily the taxes were dirt cheap before they changed the tax formula last year.
