@Kyle Kadish does it matter that the property that I am selling was my primary home that I lived in 2 years ago? I only moved out because I got married.

Can I just take the check at closing and deposit it into a bank account and then simply write a new check off that money when I purchase something else? Can buy more than 1 property with the proceeds as long as I use it all?

Hello,

Can someone please explain how I go about re investing money with a 1031 exchange? Do I need an attorney? And is there an opportunity to keep any of the money for myself tax free? Or do I need to put every penny into other properties? Thank you

@Anthony White Congratulations to you. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. I am hoping to be able to share a great story myself someday. Can you tell me more about your decision to use the Memphis area...specifically how did you decide upon the area and were there other areas you considered?

Thanks Jim. I have read a lot about about multi family properties. I’m wondering why you would suggest a four plex rather than a duplex? Is it more economical that way being that there is only 1 building, 1 roof to maintain, etc?

Hello BiggerPockets folks. I’m hoping I can get some advice. I want to be a real estate investor.i have 1 home I previously lived in that is currently rented. I’m preparing to sell another home and then buy a multi family. I am most interested in the BRRRR approach. I am not looking for or expecting a get rich quick scenario. I am sort of looking toward a ten year plan to meet my personal goals. I have done lots of online research, read books, listened to podcasts, and I’m always looking out there to see what the local market is doing etc. I have recently started to feel overwhelmed with all the information. Can anyone suggest a planning guide of some sort that will help me put my goals on paper and keep me on track with next steps. I am usually a very disciplined and organized person. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
