@Sean Baranello hey Sean! Welcome! Right now we don’t have anything going on in central Oregon that I know of. They used to meet at level two at the old mill but it has now turned into Rapa Nui since covid hit.

I was about to go to my first one right before covid hit and but wasn’t able to make it and they haven’t had one since.

I’d love to try to start something up again though to get us all connected!

@Sean Lopez there are a few factors that play into it. Bend is a tourist town for most of the PNW and CA. Beautiful mountain town that doubles its size in the summer.

Before the pandemic we were top 5 in the country in regards to people who work from home and since then it’s only grown. I just double checked and it’s one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

We also just had Facebook build a big facility in prineville which is a farm town about 30 minutes away, lots of people from Silicon Valley have been moving up for those jobs as well.

I know most areas have seen housing shortages and increases in prices, but most of us in bend don’t see it stopping for a while.

If you’re interested to hear more I’m happy to talk more about it, I think it’s a great market to invest in and would be happy to help however I can!

I'm in central Oregon and it hasn't slowed down here yet. We do have a different bubble here compared to most of the PNW though.

@Christina Baird-smith they used to meet at level 2 at the old mill before covid I believe. It now got converted to the tiki bar and haven’t heard anything about new meetings since. Would love to start getting something going again though.

Thanks for all of the responses! HELOC seems like a good way to go. Time to go do some more research to find the right property!

Hey everyone, I am going to be buying a single family home for my wife and I in the next few months. I have been reading and listening to a lot of stuff on BRRRR investing and really want to get into it. My question is, can I do it on a home that I am living in myself? I would like to buy a home, fix it up for the next year or two while living in it. (also so that we get occupancy there for the loan) then try to refinance and start renting it out after hopefully buying a 2nd home for us to live in. Are there any flaws to this strategy? I want to make sure this is a good decision before actually getting to that stage. Thanks!
