Hi all. My wife and I recently moved from Pennsylvania to the surrounding Savannah, GA area. We settled into our home back in the fall and have began looking for potential rentals that need some work.

I house hacked my first home in Pennsylvania, but didn’t recognize the benefits until we sold and collected the profits. Being married now and planning to have kids, house hacking is not the preferred investment, but we would like to build a portfolio of rentals.

We put our first offer in on a house in very rough shape. I ran some numbers and my offer was well under listing. It was declined, but we didn’t find it surprising. It’s been listed for a while and the price has dropped over time, so I’m planning to keep an eye on it and resubmit our offer if it sits for some time. In the mean time we’re into looking at others.

Anyway, thanks for all the info on these forums as it’s helped me learn a lot!
