Hey Kevin, Welcome to BP and REI. One of the best things you can do is join a local Real Estate Investing Association. I am a member of the South Jersey REIA which has meetings all over south and central NJ, including New Brunswick and Princeton. Meetings feature presentations and educational sessions on a variety of topics, plus you are networking with other local investors. There are many different avenues for investing and this can help you find what makes sense for you. Doug

Dave Van Horn it might be interesting for your counsel to do a webinar or article wrap up for investors.

I saw that earlier and thought it was pretty remarkable. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I've had a similar question about automation of business primarily around note investing. A Servicing Partner makes sense, and I'm sure they have a variety of tools. I believe some investors create a spreadsheet or other tools to assist in evaluating notes, then there are document templates etc. Tuning in for any additional wisdom.

Alex Wong I just dealt with this last weekend. There are digital ways to handle but a way to deal with hard copy cards (perhaps with notes on them) is to get plastic sleeves that fit in a three ring binder. These are made to hold business cards, baseball cards whatever. Most of my life is digital at this point but I'm still hanging on to (some, not all) business cards. The binder provides a safe place for any other REI paraphernalia I want to also keep. Doug

@Tyler Jahnke I'll throw my thanks in as well for posting your adventures. It sounds like you are where you expected to be, and I'm looking forward to hearing additional updates.

I'm a long time listener to This Week In Tech (TWiT) and have often heard Natalie and Clayton as guests from the tech side of their lives. I found Clayton's podcast after it was mentioned there, and started listening. He is a savvy marketer, generating a great deal of interest in a short time. It sounds like the operations have struggled to keep up though, and the business itself is remote from the properties which must have it's complications. I think part of his success is breaking down a complex subject (REI) to one number - your FREEDOM number. It's a "you invest in real estate, but we'll handle the details" approach that I'm sure many find appealing, especially when they are busy or live in a challenging market. I'll admit I was tempted to call, but the lack of any leverage bothered me. Instead, I started going to my local REIA meetings for networking and education, and I highly recommend this for anyone new to real estate investing. You will gain exposure to the many ways people make investing work, and find the approach that works for you.

Aaron Hunt I have started a bit of deep dive myself after an initial presentation at my local REIA. From responses I see here folks seem to keep their cards close to the vest. I still don't have a clear picture of success rates or what kind of return to expect. That may vary widely, making it difficult to quantify. However it seems to be compatible with my time and talents so I'm on the learning path. Hopefully we will both find very positive results! Doug

Michael, I'm one town over in Pennington. I can at least get you an honest, quality roofer nearby. They do some siding work but I don't know about stucco. I'm sure they could also provide local referrals. PM coming. Doug
