Hi Hal:

I have seen Window World do projects in my area. There are other fees involved but at the end of the day they are very competitive.

The fact is that replacement windows are inexpensive and usually can install quickly especially if the windows you are replacing are the old single pane glass ones.

I think that you will find several companies that will all be around the same price as Window World. Don't worry too much. This is simple stuff and easy to repair if there are errors.

Hi Manny,

Since you asked, I would like to say that this is not about the Wall Street influence on government but rather the attempt to collapse our system of government. There is a clear path of funding from Hedge fund operator George Soros as well as unions. They are joined by many strange bedfellows.

The people who are protesting are falling into a few groups. Communists, Globalists, Anarchists, Conspiracy Theorists and useful idiots which are basically the people who do not know why they are there but they have some sorted gripe.

They will go away with the cold weather but they will be back periodically to divert attention away from this country's failing economic policies.

The Tea Party has already been standing up to the government on bailout and tarp issues which seems to be the only commonality with the Occupy groups.

In my opinion the Occupy movement is unsustainable because it is fabricated. Sooner or later, those people have to go to work if they intend to eat and pay off their student loans. They do intend a revolution but it is not against the government, it is against those who invest, take risk and prosper. They think there is a finite amount of wealth in the world and if you have more of it than them, then you are greedy.

One more thing, once you notify the seller there is no permit, they are required to disclose that informaion as well. Just because they say "as is" does not change a material fact that effects the value of the property.

Also, title insurance is a good idea but will not cover building compliance or encroachment issues. It simply guarantees a chain of clear title.

Hi Ken,

This may or may not be a big deal. If the addition complies with zoning and building code, the code officer will probably work with you on it.

I would contact the code officer and tell him the problem is. I bet he will give you good advice and at the same time you will get a good idea on what you need to do to bring the structure into compliance.

This will give you a bargaining position with the seller as well.

Good luck,

Darrell
