Not necessary for real estate, but directly related to my project management job now, and I wanted a degree anyway.

That is why i am looking forward to start my career in RED! :) but still keep one foot in investments. I do agree that experience is the best teacher, but its harder to gain that experience with out the education. I've been looking for entry level positions in RED and nobody is trying to hire someone with out a degree in that field.

I can agree with that in the terms of investments, but not real estate development. Since my career is far away from RED, i definitely have to change my career through education.

@Julie Marquez Hi Julie, I want to do Project Development/Management in the commercial sector of urban/lower income areas. Of course, I want to own a few rental properties, but I do feel the need to continue my education in Real Estate Development. Some of the courses are RE Finance, RE Markets & Institutions, Advanced REI and Valuation, RE Development, RE Market Analysis, Corporate Financial Management, etc...

Does anyone have any input between going to Nova Southeastern University vs University of Miami for Real Estate Development? I know that NSU offers a Masters of Science in RED, and UM offers an MBA in RED + Urbanism. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to each? Does anyone have any personal experience in either program? Thank you for your input

I am down! Thanks for the invite @Tommy Mejia

Hey @Peter Vekselman Thank you for the information! That is actually exactly what I plan to do. I do consider myself a "marketing guru" in the sense of being a valuable resource to an investor or group. If it comes down to me shadowing someone or being a temporary intern, I will also make time for that. Thanks again!

Hello all,

I am 2 weeks into using BP and I LOVE IT! Great resources and already making greater connections.

Since I am new to REI, I figured the best way for me to learn all about Real estate and investing is not only studying and listening to the BP podcast, but looking for a job in that field. Unfortunately, some of the places I have been looking requires a Real Estate license. Though, I do plan on obtaining my license before the year is over, I am looking to start investing first.

Does anybody know of a role/position that would be great for learning the ins and outs of Real Estate?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Drew

Thank you both! @Ayodeji Kuponiyi & @Abel Curiel. I definitely am looking to purchase my first property in the next few months. Just trying to prepare and educate myself for now. Funny @Abel Curiel, I actually read that book last year. Great read! Might read it again now that I have a new focus.

I will definitely like to connect with you and @Tommy Mejia. I will send you my number via private message.

Man, you guys are the best. Thank you  @Abel Curiel and @Ayodeji Kuponiyi for all your help! I will most likely be getting a license; mostly for education and MLS insight. I am already self studying REI everyday and started listening to the BP podcast today. Great stuff!

If I may ask another rookie question, how did some of you get started in REI?
