Thank you Wayne! Glad to know I am not crazy for being unable to find it on county sites. I might try that route, better to have an idea than none at all, especially for future purchases!

No, you won't be able to find a balance anywhere.  You Can do a title search, find out what loans were originated when, make a guess as to of they are current, how long they may have been in default,etc.....and use an amortization chart to make a WAG at the balance....for whatever that is worth.

Hey Brent!

Thanks for the quick reply- I ask because they have a septic system that is more than I can tackle, it's about a 25k repair due to having buried the system under a tennis court. They keep going back and forth about repairing it, and are now saying they'd be upside down on the home. I was purely just curious. My offer is my offer absolutely, I am just wondering if it is worth pursuing (it has been about a month of back and forth at this point).

Thanks again, I am new to all of this so I am just trying to learn!

@Emily Kelly, likely, that would not be the reason for "kids changing their stories". Is there any reason you're not just treating this as you would any other prospective purchase?

ie. Their asking price either makes investment sense to you, or, it doesn't!

ie. Your offer is your offer. What they owe on it can be treated as irrelevant - by you! My 2c...

Hi Everyone!

I am currently in the process of purchasing a home and it is an estate. It has been a really long process and the kids seem to be changing their stories left and right. I was wanting to know if there is a way to look up the remaining mortgage balance in Indiana? I read through other posts on here, but can't seem to find it still.

They've owned the house for 35 years so I don't know if that's too long to be able to search.

Thanks so much!

Best,

Emily

Hey Everyone!

Looking forward to learning from you all. I purchased my first home in 2015 in the Fishers area as a live in flip. I just sold it last week and am on the hunt for another one before I try my hand at rental properties and such.

My question for anyone or those who invest in the Indy area is, how do you find foreclosures? After speaking to the guy who did the appraisal on my home, he made it seem like you have to be on the insiders network with the banks to be notified of the good properties. The ones that the successful investors don't want, are then put on the market. If this is the case, how does one find foreclosures when just starting out?

I appreciate any and all feedback!
