My Name is Emily, my husband and I got interested in real estate investing this spring. We started an LLC, and have flipped one property and have rental properties. We hope to continue to build our portfolio of rentals and occasionally do a flip when we come across the right property. We have had some education on investing, and have been to a few seminars to expand our knowledge. We make a good team, he's the muscle and money man and I run the numbers, schedule showings, and make the design decisions. The best piece of advise I have learned in my short time in the market is, You make your money when you buy the property, not when you sell it! Looking forward to having BiggerPockets as a way to learn more and connect with other investors. -E

While this might be a bit deceiving, we sometimes go with the statement "I am looking for a property for a family member". People do tend to not like the word investor, no one likes the idea of someone else making money on their property. Most cases you are helping out the seller if they are motivated due to financial situations, it allows you to at least have a conversation.
