Following this! Im on the same path as you, currently looking in Ulster County - Catskills. So far I've notice some towns have regulations or already blocking STR like Woodstock, thing is that those are saturated markets already and no room for STR (IMO), but catskills is so big its a matter of a location and price!

Hi Avery,
Thanks for the time and information. Couple questions:
1. what are benefits of starting with STR instead of LTR?
2. what tools do you recommend to find STR areas around your neighborhood (2-4 hour drive)? My case is upstate NY and looking for a STR rental up there.

Question for the community: Who here started with STR instead of long term/multifamily?
Would love to hear more of your experience as ST for getting started in REI

Hi BP comminity,
My home inspection came up with a twisted and cracked beam along with lally columns, so that needs to be repaired. Seems overwhelming to a newbie (I guess). Currently looking for a structural engineer to inspect and provide some repair guidance sort of report.
Any recommendations for structural engineer?
Also,
Anyone ever had these type of issues before?

Hey there, I’m in the same position as you. Hard to find house hacks for a reasonable price, high price and still need lots of $ out of pocket for rehab and not just cosmetic rehab I must say. I’m after inspection for a house in Bayonne and getting estimates from GC to repair foundation issues (I will ask to cancel this contract because of them) newbie with foundation issues that don’t know how to fix and also consider the ripple effect they cause on top the lots of money I need to repair means number wise it doesn’t work. I’m about to drop those news to my agent and attorney (sure push back coming) but it is what it is and now back to searching on this market. It’s discouraging but it’s how it is.
How are you doing? Have you done any search in areas like Montclair, Passaic, bellville?

@Joseph Chacko vellukunnel Great question. This area trends with old properties in need of rehab, high taxes. Heard of 203k loan to roll in rehab in one loan but would also like to hear more about this. Where in Jersey city did you find a property?
