These post are great advice.  Im currently looking at partnering up with a partner to team up and start on commercial RE investment.  @Chris Seveney; do you have a recommendation where I could start doing research on how to invest in performing notes?  Thanks for the advice everyone.  I will have the same problem next month, being a newbie and having a $100K to start.

Hello all,

I am currently seeking advice on a realtor/agent, or broker that is real estate investing friendly. To work with me on my investing, investment opportunities and also, to help me find my first buy and hold property that I will be using as a primary residence (one of the units). For my first buy and hold, I will be using my VA home loan and looking for a 2-4 unit that I can use one of the units to house hack. If you meet these and are yourself a member here from or live in El Paso, TX; feel free to hit me up. I appreciate the help and time with this matter. As always, I will help out for the help and love learning.

Kind regards,

Erik Oquendo

Hello all,

Just began the REI journey. While I am learning the area and wholesaling, I found out somethings. I will ask the questions, offer my help in return, and please forgive them questions I am a newbie.

I found a mentor, asked $3K to be mentored and part of his team.  Then 50% of all deals we do together whenever we do.  Hasn't provided anything besides that ask.  I know, but wanted to ask if any of you all have encountered this while seeking a mentor out and thoughts on it.

As I began I don't want to fall into analysis paralysis, so I am asking for advice on that or any and also on great starting action plans.  I also offer my help with whatever anyone needs that is working the area, example:  analysis on numbers, the deal, walking the property or anything else that has to due with real estate investing you might need help with.  Thanks in advance for the time and help with these beginner questions.

Kind regards,

Erik Oquendo

Carlos,

Nice man, Congrats!!! What kind of property did you close on using your VA loan? SFH or duplex? Give me a heads up man and we could meet up or chat and bounce ideas around for future acquisitions.

@Salina Tillman,

If you don't mind I like to reach out and speak on making a move more into the real estate industry. Also, on the REI part I like to bounce ideas with you and all the professionals that have been in the market for a little bit.

Kind regards,

Erik Oquendo

@Laci J.,

Laci thank you for reaching out as well.  I would like to meet up or connect to bounce ideas, and ask for some guidance as I start.  Also, i do a lot of research and love to help all with anything i come across.  I will be attending the meeting baring anything happening.  I relied on my phone and it died yesterday, and I was unable to find the place in Las Cruces.

@Adrian Silva,

Thanks for reaching out earlier.  I will check out that site.  I am currently working on my first investment, since i've been back a little over a month.  I am also working on knocking out my TX real estate license.  Its a lot, but I love this and have goals to take on my own wealth building.

Lets stay in touch and i'll reach out to you soon.

Kind regards,

Erik Oquendo

@Lee,

Sorry man.  I had some operator error happen to me last night and I missed the meeting.  I had a friend attend and share some of the information with me afterwards.  Look forward to seeing you in the one in El Paso soon.

Kind regards,

Erik

Lee,

I want to thank you for taking time and hitting me up.  I was invited and will be attending that event in a little bit.  For triathlon, I am training again, and my first official event is the San Juan 70.3 event. I am focusing initially on wholesale and buy and hold.  I can't wait to see what information they put out and meet some of you guys afterwards.  Great chatting again and look forward to many more.

Kind regards,

Erik Oquendo

Hello everyone!!!

It is great to become part of this community to learn and help others with what I have learned. My name is Erik Oquendo. I am a USAF retiree. I graduated from NYU's real estate program this May'16. Unfortunately, we mainly covered Comercial REI and preparedness for a career in that. Fortunately, I do have some cool excel skills and products that I believe can benefit any REI.

Currently, working on my TX real estate license and completing the course.  I opted for a government consultant gig here in El Paso that provides great time off to pursue my real estate studies.  I decided to go the route of beginning my own real estate investment company and take charge of my own wealth.

I was attracted to bigger pockets to learn and colaborate with like minded individuals pursuing their dreams and goals.  I can't wait to met the folks on here and begin to do the same myself.  Currently pursuing my first deal while learning.  So, I believe im suffering from being impatiently patient.  Glad to be part of the community and wishing everyone good luck.
