I just closed on my primary residence (duplex house hack) on 4/12. I want to buy a cabin in the Smokies as a second home and to STR part time. Is there a general consensus on how long one should wait after closing to apply for another loan? Wasn't sure if it was best to wait 30 days or so for credit score to optimize. It's still above 740 regardless. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the responses! I understand the notice requirements...I was just wondering about the delivery method. I ended up using USPS priority with delivery confirmation/tracking.

Hey everyone! Reviving this thread. I just purchased my first property (duplex in Clintonville) that I plan to house hack. What are some characteristics that are driving profitable AirBnBs in the Columbus area? I'd guess location in relation to Short North/downtown and possibly OSU campus is the most important metric. Basically what should I be looking at to decide whether to Airbnb or LTR it? I was thinking the location may be a good Airbnb property for Ohio State games/events once those start up again. It's a 12 minute or less Uber ride to Ohio Stadium, Schottenstein Center, Short North, downtown and convention center. Thanks!

I just closed on my first house hack (duplex in Columbus, OH) with inherited tenants. I need terminate the one unit's month-to-month lease. Is there a best way to do this? I currently live out of state so I was thinking certified mail would be best. The tenant already knows I will be formally terminating the lease but I wasn't sure what the best way to delivery it was. Thanks in advance!
