@Justin Robert thanks for commenting. I don't have anything ready for my first deal... yet. I don't need to leave my engineering job, but my thinking is that it is a better use of my time to dedicate myself full-time to getting immersed in the world of RE, since I will have another source of funding for deals. I do see your point though, I could very well sock away all the income from my job to use on deals. Honestly, I may try to keep my current job, if they allow me to work from Austin.

Hello BiggerPockets community! My name is Felix Campos and I currently reside in Houston, Texas and will be relocating to the Greater Austin area this summer, where my girlfriend will be practicing medicine. I plan to leave my current career in engineering to become a full-time "buy and hold" multifamily real estate investor. My goal is to create a portfolio to secure financial independence .

I'm currently working my way through a reading list consisting of books on multifamily investing and listening to podcasts on the same subject, and am looking forward to the connections I will make here on BiggerPockets.
