The term REALTOR® is not only a trademark owned by NAR and protected by federal law, it's a valuable membership benefit that distinguishes members from other real estate licensees.May 17, 2013

What the above says is even if you have a real estate license, you still can't even use the term Realtor, unless you are a current member of the National Association of Realtors.

I'm not sure about "realty" as I did not find anything on it, but most likely it is trademarked as well. You could reach out to NAR to find out, also check with the attorney assisting you in setting up your llc.

Real estate agents will be here for a long time to come, just like doctors, lawyers, public servants etc.  There are too many ever changing laws to keep up with that the vast majority of buyers and sellers know little about. It's a good industry to be in, especially as an investor.

I looked at houses in canyon gate a couple months ago and even met with 7 or 8 homeowners to discuss buying their homes. In the end, I realized that since everyone single one of the 700+ houses in the neighborhood flooded and had been gutted, it will take a long time for this sub to recover. Not to mention the stigma that will never leave. I think some of the investors I saw buying houses in there right afterwards jumped the gun a little.

I'm moving to Houston in the next 60 days. My background is 5 years as a mortgage lender, 6 years as a home builder, and 6 years as a real estate agent so I'm well versed and have bought and sold a few investment properties over the years.  I just joined HAR to look for my next primary, but I want to include wholesale fixer uppers as well. I'd like to continue flipping in Houston anyways once I get settled.

I've already reached out to New Western, who are great in Austin, but they are the only game I know of in Houston. Hey and I'm always looking for someone to partner on deals with too.

Thank you!

I have to make a decision by the end of the summer as I have an opportunity to move to Houston. The Austin market for flips is tight and with so many people been moving to Austin the prices are high for rentals. Anyone with any insight on how Houston compares for flippers and general investing?

Thank you!

While I have not bought a property from them, Justin Mynier in the Austin office has been great to deal with. Paul as well.

Please keep us updated! I'm about to start my first flip, and like to see there are others being successful at this as well.
