@Chris Seveney I am having trouble trying to find one of those right now. It seems as though there is one about an hour from me that meets on Wednesday's that I am looking into. I have also been unsuccessful in finding people in this group that are from my area being a small state. But I will keep at looking to see if I can find one. For a REIA what would I be looking at for a dress code? Is casual OK or should I try to find some more business type of wardrobe?

@JD Martin based off of what I have been seeing and hearing since I got the interest in real estate investing a few years ago it seems discomfort is a normal feeling at least in the beginning. Part of my problem is not wanting to lose, not just not wanting to, I can't lose. I generally do good under pressure so that's not a big concern of mine it's the uncertainty of if something is going to work out or if I made the right choice and second guessing myself.

@Bruce Woodruff thank you. That's more or less what I am thinking. The unknown and the uncertainty is kind of intimidating for me.

@Chris Seveney the reasons for the calls for now would be to try to find some investor friendly real estate agents somewhere somewhat close to me. Then a tax person. Eventually I have a feeling at some point I'll have to do more or less cold calling as I don't have a lot of capital so getting into the game is going to take getting out of my comfort zone altogether so I'm thinking I kind of just need to dive in. I'm just nervous. I don't like no. I don't like failure and have yet to figure out how to fail upwards.

Hey there everyone, hope all is well. I know there's a term "no such thing as a stupid question" but I have one. What would you recommend to overcome disliking talking on the phone. I'm not sure if it's due to being from the free nights and weekends generation or if it's due to anytime I try to call somewhere having to dance around trying to get a hold of a live person but talking on the phone is something I see as an inconvenience and will often put it off, especially when it involves calling a business. Also, a bit random, what is a strategy to leaving a good voicemail? I feel as I'm a bit awkward when having to leave a voicemail other than just my name and number. Thanks in advance.

Hey there everyone, hope you all had a good week. I work in building trades, actually started working in building trades due to wanting to get into real estate. Previously I worked as an LNA (most the country knows it as a CNA). I live in Vermont and from what it looks like looking around a bit on here there doesn't appear to be many people from here on this forum. Even harder, the two cities listed are an hour and an hour and a half from me. I work with a couple of guys who have a rental or two but both of them had the properties fall into their laps. Not really sure where to go to get started as it's such a small state and not a whole lot there. I don't work on site anywhere so I wouldn't be able to meet general contractors, I work in a warehouse building houses. My goal is to do house hacking with FHA loans as that's about the only way I would be able to do it. I don't have a lot of funds, I pay a lot in child support, feeling kind of lost on what direction to go. Currently trying to clear up some debt I have to help boost my credit up but ultimately by the end of the year would like to at least be in the process of doing my first deal. I'm in my mid 30s and feeling like I'm behind the curve. I would like to eventually have rental properties to have passive income to be able to start a business of my own as I've always wanted to own my own business. I would also like to do some flips and brrrrr. I am kind of unsure where to start and feeling overwhelmed being out of my element. I started listening to the bigger pockets podcast from the beginning again this week while working as I figured learning while working would be beneficial and would be a better use of my time. I've read rich dad, poor dad, think and grow rich as well as some other Napoleon Hill work. Done research and looked deeper into real estate with google searches there is so much info out there it's hard to tell what is real and what is just garbage. Any insight into what I can do to start networking while in a very small area and working full time?
