While Joshua brings up a good point, this is kind of a rough topic as different things work out for different people. You'll probably notice when reading other posts that some things will work for one person and not for another.

The important thing is that you need to be willing to test and try different things and sees what works best for you.

Have you tried putting your signs on the ground before? If you can, try to find other places where people have placed bandit signs and keep track of them. If they are there for a long period of time, chances are they are having some decent conversions. Then you can just casually place your bandit sign in that area :).

Another option you may consider is not going with building a website at all and instead working with a Content Management System (CMS). Not only are CMS's designed to be easily updated with new content, but they pretty much come with everything you could ever need. Also, most (if not, everything) you will need will be free. It just will take a little learning.

Some examples of CMS systems are WordPress (www.wordpress.org), Joomla (www.joomla.org) and Drupal (www.drupal.org).

I would definitely consider these. I think you will be pretty surprised at how amazing they can look as well.

There are numerous sites out there if you really want to do link exchanging, but like Chris said, you'll be best off if you trade with people in your website's niche.

That being said, I would really recommend you check out Google's Webmaster Guidelines. They provide great material in how to help your page make its way up the search engines with regards to SEO. You can check it out at: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769

For starters, I would really recommend browsing through the rest of this category. There is some pretty solid information here. It just may take some time to browse through the posts, but it may be very well worth your time.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy to see how much Phelps eats. Did you catch that report they did some time last week on Good Morning America? They actually showed you what he ate at which meals of the day.... it was scary :).

Yeah, I wouldn't really count those. The last thing you want to do is piss people off by contacting them again. It's like they say, if someone thinks you provided them a great service, they will tell 1 other person. If someone thinks you provide a horrible service, they will end up telling 10 other people. It would be a shame if you got a great lead and then figured out that they are dropping out because one of their friends told them not to do business with you because of bad business practices.

Post: Blog or Site?

I think there are many factors between choosing a blog or site, one of which is your technical experience. If you are not familiar with programming in HTML, then a blog would probably be your best bet as they are easy to install and use.

In addition, search engines and spiders love blogs because they are a prime source for fresh content. In using a blog, your site will get indexed in the search engines much faster than a website.

Websites are much more flexible. Even though there is a lot you can do with a blog, you are limited to what is capable of. If you have a website, you can make it into whatever you want providing you know how to code it.

These things being said, if you had to choose between the two, I would probably recommend a blog. But if you don't have to choose, then I would set up both on the same domain.

From the stuff I have seen, I would think Yellow with Black would be best as that fluorescent yellow really is an eye catcher. Then again, the people in your location may react differently to bandit signs. That being said, even though I would suggest the yellow on black, I would recommend trying them out.

If you do plan on testing both types of signs, put some kind of code on each of them and then when people call in, ask them for the sign code. That way, you can get better results as to which sign outperformed the other.

In terms of slogans, the whole rhyming thing is always a nice way to help get your message to stick in people's heads. Have you tried that slogan out yet? If so, how has it been working? If it hasn't been working very well, never be afraid to try something new. Maybe think about throwing some benefits in your slogan like 'quick transactions' or something like that.

I would have to agree on the point that you can never have too much content. This is exactly the point of articles. The more articles you have, the more they will get distributed. And the more they get distributed, the more likely people will figure out about you and your business.
