Quote from @Devin Dang:

Hi @Geeta Sharma! I am currently house hacking my single family home and cash flow positive. I live in one room in rent the other three. Co-living/rent-by-the-room strategy is growing and a great way to increase cash-flow with it being extremely difficult to make long term traditional rents work in the Austin market.

I only list on flexible housing/lease facebook groups and have lots of success.

What parts of the process are you most curious about?

Hi Devin,

I am experienced landlord with renting properties on long term basis but with house prices increasing everyday it’s very hard to even get enough rent to cover your mortgage. I found rent by room concept very appealing but not sure how to target the population only interested in renting by room.

Hi friends, is there anyone who rent their property by room to get a positive cash flow? What’s the process and where do you list?

What is the best area in Austin to do multiunit investment? Do properties older than year build 2000 considered too old to invest? What are the things which need to watch out for while investing in such properties ? Any advise would help !

Hi, what is your opinion on growth towards Georgetown in terms of business and housing ?

Hi guys, I would like to get your input about buying a property in Paloma lake, round rock area. Is it a desirable area and good for raising family ? Thanks !

@Ryan Kelly great points. How can you find a seller who will sell directly to you?

Hi,

We are looking for good agent in Austin area who can assist us buying a primary residence. We worked with couple of Agents but looks like they are working with multiple clients at the same time can’t focus on what we are looking for. What’s the main criteria when you select an agent as a buyer? Some agents require you to sign a contract before they start working with you. Let me know if any of you did that and how did it go.

Thank you everyone for replying. Our end goal is to get a proper home but since there is not much inventory right now we decided to go for whatever is available. Also, If we find our dream home within few months of buying this starter home we will move there. I hope there is no problem with that later on.

Hi, we are planning on buying a primary residence in Austin which we will convert to investment later on when we move to bigger home. Right now builders are not selling to investors. I am not sure how our scenario qualify for purchase. Do you think builders can create trouble later on ?
