I prefer SFR but want to be as maintenance-free as possible so an apartment or condo is okay too. Can I save money if I look further south. I hear that the area south of Scaleybark is not as desirable as the areas closer to the city. Can I get a better deal south of Scaleybarkand and wait for the path of growth to reach me later?

@Brent Ryerson: Are the permits in your name or his name?  How do you get a new contractor to pull new permits?

Ask your attorney to review the condo docs for you. This is not legal advice but you will want to see if the condo docs are recorded and if you will get declarant rights. You may be able to dissolve the condo and file HOA docs instead.
