Post: How do you determine if an area is mostly owner/renter occupied?

Hi @Angela DeBorja, you could just pick the neighborhood on your favorite site and then search for sale, versus for rent in that area - that will give you a pretty good idea. You could also review census data (which enumerates that specific metric explicitly, although the data is older).

@Jamal L. and @Account Closed, this post made me curious so I did a little googling and found this: http://www.peoples-law.org/house-guest-or-squatter-refuses-leave. Is that wrongful detainer mechanism viable ?

@Michael Hunter I'm impressed you managed to make sub 10 shells in Bmore work. I've always been a bit tempted by them, but the blocks just scare me off.

I'd fix them up myself if I didn't think my drywall and copper would disappear overnight ... or that I'd go in to work on it one day and find some nice gentlemen keeping it company or using it as an impromptou location for entrepreneurial activities.

I can't help but look at all these shells with some curiosity. What's the downside of just tossing over some pocket change for one, and sitting on it for a while ? Potentially seeing if you can get a couple in a row to do something architecturally interesting with, or just riding it out until the area starts to grow a bit and then finally fixing them up to rent or sell ?

Actually I just emailed him instead; home inspection rules don't allow them to estimate due to the perceived conflict of interest, and he doesn't lead test. Seems quite reasonable though, looking forward to the opportunity to need his services.

Hi @Lukasz Kownacki, I was wondering how this panned out - did you end up making an offer on anything ?
