Thank you for the warm welcome and a good start on literature and resources, I really appreciate it!  I would like to consider purchasing my next property in Oregon but as you said the market is high here, I would consider other states as well.  @Gerry Seaver and @Jeff Wallenius Thank you both for the welcome and good luck!  @Austin Youmans Renovation is going great, I've replaced the roof, windows, siding, paint and added a porch!  I am now working on the inside, hopefully should be near completion in the first quarter of 2017.

Hello to everyone!

My name is Ian and I'm somewhat new to the Hillsboro, Oregon area.  I spend my days working as an Engineering Technician in NW Portland and my nights and weekends renovating my first real estate investment, a 1930 cottage.  If I ever give myself a free day I enjoy snowboarding at Mt. Hood and riding my dirtbike.

I haven't been listening for long but I found BiggerPockets through listening to real estate podcasts, instead of gluing myself to a tv (which I don't have) I try to absorb everything I can while staying busy laying flooring, painting or whatever the task is of the night!

As a newbie I am looking to build solid relationships with others in and around my community through networking.  Initially I am interested in buy and hold single family and multifamily rental homes, but would also like to get into flipping.  I would be grateful to have a mentor someday as well.
