Thanks @Jamie Campbell.  I'm definitely circling back with Patrick.

Thanks @Mark Nolan.  I'm going through a few podcasts a day and I'm really enjoying it.

I listened to a podcast related to someone that had basically half of their investments in college rental apartments.  Check out Radical Personal Finance's podcast #331 (interview with Chad Carson).  Hopefully you can get a better idea based on some of the experiences Chad discusses regarding renting to college kids.

Thanks Alex.  New to figuring out how to navigate this forum.  I think I sent you a PM, but let me know if nothing came through, haha!

I'm very new to the entire concept of real estate investment. Right now, I'm trying to soak up as much information as I can. I've been listening to the BP podcasts, reading blog posts, the UBG, and I'm currently reading Building Wealth One House at a Time by John Schaub. These have all been excellent resources in my real estate investing education. One thing that I'd like to find is something that dives into some of the basics of overall real estate investing. Something that defines the different metrics to analyze on a deal (like Cap rate), as well as different types of financing, etc. I thought the UBG did a great job of discussing these items at a high level and my interest is piqued. Now I'm trying to find a resource that does a deeper dive into these items. I'm not sure if there is a book like this that exists or if it something you just have to learn as you study the different topics separately. I'd appreciate any guidance other posters can offer on how they educated themselves on the basics. I'm currently interested in buy and hold for single family homes for cash flow, but this is subject to change as I continue to learn about real estate investing. Thanks.

Thanks Don! Unfortunately I already have something scheduled that day, but I would definitely be interested in networking in the future.

Hello BP community! My name is Jacob Nunn.  I'm from and currently live in the Rock Hill, SC area (about 30 minutes South of Charlotte, NC).  My background is accounting and finance (specifically tax accounting).  I'm pretty early on in my real estate education process.

I actually came across BP while listening to the Radical Personal Finance podcast.  I'm currently in the process of trying to soak up as much information as I can via the BP podcast, webcasts, blog, and various real estate books (currently reading Building Wealth One House at a Time by John Schaub).

My wife and I have a infant son, and I'm really wanting to diversify my income with real estate.  Based on what I've learned so far, I'm really leaning towards single family homes using the Buy and Hold method (also potentially open to multifamily as well).  I'm still trying to learn the basics, so I haven't been able to determine yet what strategy works best in my market, but I'm really looking forward to discovering that as I continue to learn.  I'm really viewing real estate as a long term method to help generate additional cash flow and financial security.

Looking forward to talking with all of you! Thanks.
